Blood Do’NAY’tion Drive

Yesterday, we had a blood dontation camp arranged “at our office” in collaboration with the Lions Club of Snehapuri, Hyderabad and the Red Cross Society. A great effort to help people who are suffering from thallasemia from the convenice of your Office, I mean how much simpler can it be? 

However, (and much to my surprise) only 100 out of the 1000 odd people came forward. Why? 

I decided to find out and asked a few people in the office and some of the responses I got were: 

“Bunk it yaar.” 

“I am just too scared.” 

“I am not sure if I have enough blood to donate, haha.” 

“I might just faint.” 

“Lets see I’ll go next time, too much work yaa.” 

All these and a lot more just leaving me flabbergasted. Is it really that difficult to spare just 30 mintues of your ‘precious’ time? or Will you still be so scared if someone close to your heart needs some help like this? (God forbid). I mean how can you not care for something like this or have our petty issues and don’t care attitudes taken priority over someone’s “LIFE” ?
